Peacebell

Michael Patrick Kelly is a successful musician and has also been a peace activist for years. In 2018 he launched the PeaceBell initiative.

In both world wars, around 170,000 bells were melted down to extract metal for weapons production. Michael Patrick Kelly has reversed this process and presents the PeaceBell as a symbol of change. The peace bell is intended to warn against repeating the mistakes of the past. Therefore, with the PeaceBell project, Michael Patrick Kelly wants to draw attention to the importance of turning away from radicalism and polarizing tendencies in our society and why peace means more than the mere absence of weapons.

Beatrice Turin and cathedral priest Toni Faber worked together as peace ambassadors with "Social City Wien" and brought the PeaceBell to Vienna. After Mainz, Vienna is the second city in the world to be home to a Peace Bell.

Special thanks go to Hannes Derfler, District Manager Brigittenau, where PeaceBell has found its home. The Vienna PeaceBell is an essential symbol to visibly position the city of Vienna as a cosmopolitan city of peace. The collected donations are used to finance the PeaceBell and selected social projects.

Beatrice would be happy if you too become part of this peace community.
